W.H Irwins - Live music venue and Museum Pub Cahir Co Tipperary

About

Welcome to Irwins Yard a unique and quaint bar centrally located in the well known heritage town of Cahir. This traditional Irish bar is an old fashioned pint puller and famous for its songs, yarns and tall tales and is also known as one of the best live music venues in south Tipperary.

Here you will be served by the most friendly and attentive staff as you sit back and enjoy your drink in an old world atmosphere.

The wooden style decor with all its antique bric-a-brac and Tipperary memorabilia conjures up the atmosphere of a real Irish bar with real Irish people. The bar hosts a unique and collective range of items connected to the song "Its a long way to Tipperary".

Testimonials

Sunday World, Pub-spy 09-05-2010 - This is a pub that you either love or hate and our troops enjoyed every minute of it. It's another pub from the past, and The Old Commando said he would defend its decor with life and limb. Basically, it's a museum and restaurant and the smell emanating from the kitchen would leave any man Hungary.

There is memorabilia from a bygone era all over the place, including paper clippings that have faded over time and through many decades of tobacco smoke. The Old Commando loves looking at the old cigarette boxes. He hates cigarettes but the old boxes rekindled great memories.

He drew our attention to what he still calls  "the wireless" and he also drew our attention to an award the pub won in the past. The poker machine sits neatly and secluded in an alcove. The toilets were OK with a clean sink, soap, dryer and paper towels.

"Chanced upon this gem of a pub in the centre of Cahir, Co Tipperary. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, ideal setting - don't miss it. Great Irish Coffee as well."

"We stopped at Irwins last week 11/7/2012 for a quick pint after meeting some very distant relatives, wow what a surprize. We met the nicest bunch of people in Ireland....."

"What a fantastic traditional Irish pub, everyone is friendly and very inviting......"

"Head for Irwins on The Square, easily the liveliest pub which sometimes has traditional music or a DJ most weekends"
