Welcome to Gortnamacken House B&B Loughrea in Co Galway, I am a very inviting, relaxed type of person and enjoy meeting people and having them come to stay at Gortnamacken house. Its a very relaxed and comfortable home we live in and I like to let people feel at home when they stay here.

I like to meet and greet my guests as much as possible as I feel the personal touch makes a big difference, I also have languages of English and Español.

The property is situated just inside the border of the Burren Lowlands and it is set back from the road on approximately 10 acres of land. The Owenshee river runs along the end of the land which is a nice quiet place to relax and listen to the birds in the trees and the water flowing by slowly in the summer.

We have lots to offer in and around Gortnamacken House with the Sliabh Aughty Mountains being very near the house with lots of walkways and paths to choose from. With also the lake in Loughrea is less than a 10 minute drive if you favour a swim during the warm weather with its lovely walkway's to stretch the legs for a nice leisurely walk.

Woodville walled in garden: Rich in history with in walking distance.

Thoor Ballylee in Peterswell: The summer home of WB Yeats a 15 minute drive.

Coole Park in Gort: A beautiful place to see.

Burrenlowlands: With all its beauty that it possesses.

St Brendan's Cathedral: Fabulous stain glass windows and architecture.

The abbey: and all the walks around it are very quaint also.

Golf Clubs: Loughrea Golf Club a 15 minute drive and Gort Golf Club a 20 minute drive.

Horse Riding: Can be arranged at Flowerhill Equestrian Centre, Dartfield or Slieve Aughty, all within 1/2 an hour's drive.

Travel and Costs: A bus collects people at my gate on a Thursday morning for Loughrea and a Friday morning to Gort.. It usually costs approx €5 return.

Taxis are available from the local town and usually cost roughly €10 one way.

Dinner: at Sullivan's Hotel in Gort is very good and very reasonably priced and they usually serve up until 9pm daily, you can also avail of Dinner at Loughrea Hotel & Spa, The Meadow Court Hotel, Maggie Mays in Loughrea and there is also an Italian, Chinese, & Indian to choose from.
