string(2184) "TREES
Standard trees: There are many tree varieties available for smaller or bigger gardens. The come in all shapes and sizes, evergreen, deciduous, flowering, bearing fruits and nuts etc.
Given that many of us have limited space in which to garden, make sure the trees you select are right for their surroundings, in terms of proportion as well as for their decorative value.
Native Irish trees: Our most common native trees include oak, ash, hazel, birch, Scots pine, rowan and willow.
Fruit trees: Fruit trees are a lovely sight in every season. They produce flowers, colour and of course fruit. September is an ideal time to harvest fruit from your garden trees.
Multi-stem trees: Multi-stemmed trees are hugely popular for lots of reasons. They can be very attractive as a focus point tree in the garden. The demand has rocketed over the last few years. Jaquimontii Birch with its striking white bark is one that is very much sought after. Try this one in groups of three or five and you’ll love the results.
Specimen trees: A specimen tree is a plant, which has particularly beautiful or interesting features and well worth looking at. Multi-stemmed trees can also serve as engaging specimen trees.
Jap. Maples: The Japanese maple has hundreds of varieties that come in various sizes and shapes. They have a large assortment of leaf shapes and colours that range from shades of green to orange, red, purple, and variegated.
