Hi! My name is Sean Rafferty, I am the owner of Excel School of Motoring in Limerick and I am a Road Safety Authority (RSA) Approved Driving Instructor. We are a driving school offering car driving lessons in both Limerick and Shannon test centres, we do pick up within reason also. We tailor every lesson to suit your particular needs which provides the ideal environment to learn to drive.

We offer the mandatory 12 EDT Lessons needed for you to apply for your driving test and we also offer extra lessons if you need them before doing your test, all done in a relaxed learning environment. Information about our Services as follows:

EDT Syllabus - We will focus on the driving behaviours that research shows contribute most to collision and injuries. The EDT works with the driver to improve their knowledge, understanding and behaviour. It is designed to avoid high risk of harm to learner drivers and other road users by checking and, if necessary, correcting the driver’s - habits, attitudes and skills.

Each lesson should be covered within one hour. We will choose a route for your lesson that gives you the most opportunity to have relevant practice and demonstration.

Pre tests - Pre-test driving lessons are aimed at learner drivers with a valid learners’ permit, and in addition have completed their EDT syllabus, if required. A pre-test driving lesson is essential for any student who is serious about passing their practical driving test. Test preparation will make the day much less stressful and will increase your chances of passing your driving test.

Car hire - If you have a driving test coming up and you need a car hire for your driving test because your own is not up to scratch or you don't own one yet then Excel School of Motoring can ease that stress by providing you with one of our driving school cars.

Nervous drivers - Excel School of Motoring instructs in a friendly, relaxed style to put even the most nervous drivers at ease. Every student will get an individual lesson plan to suit their learning needs, with constructive feedback.

Refresher driving lessons - Our refresher driving lessons are designed to provide learner drivers with the knowledge and tips and tricks they need to sit and pass the real driving test. A refresher driving Lesson is essential for any student that is serious about passing their driving test first time.

Advanced driving lessons - This will improve your awareness and observation skills out on the road in all traffic and weather conditions and also help you to becoming a smoother and more accurate driver aswel as fixing any bad habits you may have.

Driving instructor is a person who is hired by a driver who wants to learn how to improve their driving skills usually for an upcoming practical driving test. Different countries have different rules regarding permits and other regulations. Driving instructors have several tasks such as teaching new drivers the theory and techniques needed to carefully operate various types of vehicles such as cars which we specialise in.

One of the most important hard skills a driver can possess is consistently obeying traffic laws and following safety rules because driving can be a potentially dangerous activity and great caution is needed when operating vehicles. Here at Excel School of Motoring we will teach you all the skills to become a careful and excellent driver.

A driver who steers, brakes, changes gears, and accelerates smoothly is a good driver. Smooth and careful driving also places far less stress on the mechanics of a vehicle, thus avoiding unnecessary and inconvenient breakdowns. It's important that drivers employ defensive driving when on the road. We will show you how to drive properly, not just for safety reasons but also to keep your car running sufficiently for much longer.

I (Sean) believe my training is backed up by my passion for road safety and teaching means that I can offer a great service to the younger and older students, whether you are only starting out or need a refresher course after years of bad habits, I have a plan to suit everyones needs.
