About

Hello! :) My name is Elizabeth Sek. My business is called The Happy Viking. Thank you for taking an interest in my leatherwork.

Largely inspired by the Viking, Celtic & Medieval cultures, I use either replica designs or my own original artwork to create leatherwork pieces that will last and you will love.

If you are looking for something more personalized, I am more than happy to talk to you about a custom order.

All my work is tooled, punched, sewn and burnished completely by hand, giving each piece its own unique character.

I became a Viking re-enactor about 8 years ago and it was then that my love of leatherwork began.

In December 2012 I decided turn my passion into my way of living rather than just a hobby.

Leatherwork is more than making accessories to me; it is a form of art and, as such, I like to think of myself as an artist. I create each piece individually and take the time I need to make each piece perfect.

To me, it's about giving my customers an item that they will really love and something that is going to last. I am not into mass production, hiring cheap labour or rushing through orders to get a large volume of products out in a hurry.

Trollen Weaving Kit

A great way to keep your hands busy and produce something useful! :) Trollen weaving chord can be used in many ways - decorate clothing, drawstring, rope, hair ties ...

This kit is made up of: 1 x leather trollen weaving disc (8.5 cm diametre), 8 x leather "bones" for tying your wool/thread, 1 x linen drawstring bag and instructions.

Where it all happens !!

I feel so blessed to live in Maleny. It's paradise! Located on the Blackall Range in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland Australia, about 100 k ilometres north of Brisbane.

The area has spectacular views and pockets of lush rain forest. Maleny was initially a timber region with virtually all of the Cedar, Beech & Hoop Pine being felled to provide furniture and construction timber for SE Queensland and the UK. Once clearing had been achieved it quickly became a dairy farming area and supported the surrounding areas for many years with all their milk-based products.

Maleny is now better known for its tourist activities and its diverse population! The area is a craft paradise and is home to many nationally recognised artists and art galleries. It is also an area of extreme interest to the eco-tourist.

Other towns on this strip of range are Montville and Mapleton, both of which are tourist attractions in their own right!
