Help After Birth - Postpartum Doula Services Dublin

About

Help After Birth - Postpartum Doula Services Dublin: I offer help for families that will benefit from help in their home after the birth of their baby. I am an infant feeding specialist, with paediatric first aid, Garda vetted, insured and Covid regulations compliant.

The arrival of a new baby is an exciting time, but it can also be very overwhelming and new parents often have questions, and are trying to navigate life with a new baby while their bodies are also recovering from birth. Is it normal for my body to feel like this? Is feeding supposed to be so complicated? How do I soothe my baby and help them sleep?

The early postpartum period comes with so many stresses, insecurities and enormous new responsibilities, all while the mother needs to rest and the family should be able to concentrate on bonding with the new addition. You have an idea of how you want to parent, but how do you achieve it? A postpartum doula helps your family with nonjudgmental, evidence-based information and hands-on support that suits your parenting style.

Postpartum Doula support helps families to transition into every day life after the baby is born by providing physical, emotional, practical and educational support as you recover from childbirth. I will work with you to find your own way of parenting so you can rest in the knowledge that your baby’s needs are met and you are not forgotten about.

All postpartum hours and care are tailored specifically to your needs by designing a postpartum plan that works best for you. There is no time limit or maximum age of the baby, I will provide postpartum care for as long as you and your family feel they need or want it.

Guiding Infant Care

I will help you navigate the first few weeks of getting accustomed to what your baby needs. As your newborn adjusts to life outside of the womb, I am there every step of the way to support you and answer questions you may have about your role as a parent.

Family Support and Sibling Care

With a newborn in the house, things can get a little hectic and older siblings can often feel left out. My role is to make this transition smooth and easy by providing you with tools to encourage sibling bonding and finding your new family dynamic, ensuring that older children feel included and looked after.

Parents may often worry about how older children will adjust when a new baby is introduced to their family. This is very normal and a postpartum doula can help with this transition by ensuring siblings feel involved, loved and looked after.

Family support also includes, if you so wish, meal and snack preparation, batch cooking, school lunches, grocery shopping, household tasks like basic cleaning, laundry and doing the dishes. In short, all the things that should NOT be on your mind so you can concentrate on your baby and on your role of being a new mum!

Sleep

Lack of sleep and trying to find the reasons for newborn night waking can leave you feeling overwhelmed, confused and frustrated. I will let you know what to expect at the different developmental stages and go through what’s normal. I help new parents create healthy sleep habits which are developmentally appropriate for their baby.

I am available for both overnight care and daytime hours so parents are not battling with sleep deprivation during those early days.

Meal Prep and Planning

New mum's often put their own nutritional needs to the side following birth. I am more than happy to prepare snacks, meals, stop into the shop or assist with larger meal planning.

Household Tasks

I am ready to maintain household tasks including laundry, dishes, change bed sheets, and basic cleaning so you can bond with your baby and enjoy all of those new baby snuggles!
